58th Annual Grammy Recap
Posted on February 16 2016
Last night some of the biggest stars in music assembled at the Staples Center in DTLA for the 58th Annual Grammy Awards, which aired on CBS (and can be streamed at cbs.com/shows/grammys for those of you who missed it and have the patience to deal with their lagging stream and constantly crashing site).
But if you missed it, and don’t feel like investing two hours + in an awards show, here’s our recap.
First, let’s talk about how disappointing the red carpet was. Typically deemed one of the most fashion forward events of the year, it seemed this year was a bit of a snooze fest. The men’s outfits definitely did it for me more than the ladies’.
My favorites (in no particular order) were:
Chrissy Teigen & John Legend
As for the awards show itself, Taylor Swift and Kendrick Lamar pretty much cleaned up shop. I know I’m probably going to basic bitch hell and getting my right to wear Uggs revoked for saying this, but I am OVER T. Swift. Her album of the year win sealed the deal for me. I can’t be the only one who wanted to Kanye her… or maybe I am since she seems to sweep up the awards at every. damn. show.
Notable moments from the show:
Kendrick Lamar. Holy shit. He slayed.
I couldn’t write this and not include the Jack U performance. When the rock version of “Where Are U Now” started, my first thought was “ughhhhh”, but I guess the plus of low expectations is that you end up pleasantly surprised. Oh and Justin was pretty good too. There’s a lot of polarity around his likability, but you can’t deny the guy can sing.
Taylor Swift throwing shade at Kanye during her acceptance speech.
Adele’s technical difficulties. Ouch. Her face said it all.
So, tell us, what were your thoughts on the show?
